Tips on balloon sustainability.
PROPER BALLOON DISPOSAL
-
Disposing of balloon garlands:
-
Pop all balloons with a pin or scissors - leaving balloons on the string they were tied with makes clean up much easier and timely.
-
Be sure to not leave behind any string, hooks, or confetti - animals can be strangled by balloon string, be sure every item is picked up.
-
Place everything in a bag that can be tied and properly dispose in a trash receptacle - placing items in a bag that can be tied ensures nothing is left behind. Balloons consumed by animals can cause them to suffocate and die, their life depends on it!

MYLAR AND BIODAGRADEABLE BALLOONS
Though a bit more pricey, biodegradable and recyclable balloons are a great way to love on our planet. Though it is no secret that balloons are harmful if not disposed of properly, biodegradable balloons and mylar balloons are our planet’s best chance at not adding to landfills long term.
STAY AWAY FROM BALLOON RELEASES COMPLETELY
You have no idea where those balloons will land and which animal may consume them.
OTHER OPTIONS TO BE ECO-FRIENDLY WITH BALLOONS
Deflating and reusing balloons after a balloon designer has brought you an install is a great idea. After all, you have already purchased the balloons, they are yours to keep! If you place them in a dryer safe bag and toss in the dryer for a few minutes (depending on balloon brand) they will regain their stretch and elasticity. Deflating and saving for your next event at home is a great way to lower your carbon footprint! You can also reuse arrangements as-is for multiple events, that way many people can enjoy them. Re-apply balloon shine and enjoy!
